I like to think of myself as an independent, cool-under-pressure, do-it-yourself kind of gal. But, yesterday I panicked–big time. You see, my wedding is less than two months away, and I had box of invitations sitting on my dining room floor, in pieces, in need of gluing and stuffing and stamping and addressing… You get the point. And I just. couldn’t. handle. it. alone.
So what did I do? I put out the call, Batman-signal style, to my own trusty group of superheroes: my girlfriends. Sure enough, one-by-one they came knocking at my door last night to save the day–and one even brought cupcakes! Within minutes, they had set up an invitation assembly line and started getting crafty. Before I knew it, the stack of finished invitations got higher and higher, my girls had me cracking up, and all stress (well, almost all of it) was out the window.
That’s the thing about girlfriends–whether or not they’re your actual squadmates, they’re always on your team. They always have your back (and front and sides), and last night, Team Marisa totally kicked butt. I know that the next time they need me, I’ll be there to answer the call, bearing cupcakes.
Have your girlfriends ever stepped in to save the day? Tell me all about it at marisa@americancheerleader.com.
