Louisville in Gatorade commercial!

July 16th, 2009 by Marisa Walker – Comments (0)

Unless cheerleading is on, I don’t normally make it a habit to watch ESPN. But the MLB All-Star Game was on the other night, and I happened to catch a few innings. Around the 7th inning, an AMAZING Gatorade commercial came on. I was totally into it already, but then all of a sudden, it cut to a beautiful full Basket Toss. I didn’t need to rewind and replay in slow-mo (although I did anyway) to recognize the U of L uniform, not to mention the gorgeous technique. I was so proud!

Gatorade gets it–cheerleaders are athletes, in the same realm as professional basketball, baseball, volleyball and soccer players and gymnasts. Check out the spot here.

About Marisa Walker
Growing up in Centerville, OH, cheerleading was my whole world—and with this job, it still is! I cheered all through junior high (with my mom as my coach) and high school (go, Alter Knights!). I coached, choreographed and taught camps all through college, while earning my degree in journalism at Ohio University, where I was the captain of the dance team. With my background, no one is ever surprised that this is what I do for a living. Once a cheerleader always a cheerleader, right? My job is so cool: It’s like being the captain of a super talented squad, all working their tails off to make something great happen. And to top it all off, I have the best readers in the world to learn from along the way: you guys!
