Become your favorite star this Halloween!

October 1st, 2009 by Jessica Pribush – Comments (2)

In this celebrity–obsessed world, the media influences many aspects of our lives, whether in friendly conversation, on the covers of magazines or at the movies. This year’s top Halloween costumes are no exception. Whether you take inspiration for your holiday disguises from the characters they play or the celebs who play them, pop culture is showing up everywhere this Halloween!

hannahHannah Montana:

She’s got the best of both worlds, and you can, too. To become Disney’s undercover pop star, you’ll need a blonde “Hannah” wig. You can also pair some jeans with a sparkly sequined top. Throw on some tall boots and wrap a belt around your shirt to complete the look, and become your favorite singer.

Twilight:

With New Moon, the second installment in the popular Twilight series out in theatre this November, you can show your support for Team Edward or Team Jacob.

Vampire: To become a creature of the night, paint or powder your face a pale white, and sport fake fangs to show off your bite. Dark clothes help you to blend in with the humans, and novelty contacts will add a realistic touch. Wear your hair perfectly tousled for the ideal vampire look.

Wolves: Transform into a mysterious canine by strategically shredding a pair of jeans and T-shirt. Wear your hair messy, paint on a black nose, glue plastic ‘claws’ on gloves and be sure to incorporate some fur. This look is all about creativity!

taylorCountry Crooner:

Thanks to stars like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, country charm is the newest trend! Find an old guitar at a garage sale or borrow one from a friend (make sure it has a strap for easy carrying), pull on a pair of cowboy boots, worn in jeans or a flowy prairie skirt to show your country flare. Add a microphone, and you’ll be ready to sing your heart out.

Claire Bennet from “Heroes”:

To become TV’s toughest cheerleader, take an old cheer uniform, dirty it up and add some fake blood. With this costume, you get to show off your love for cheer while incorporating a unique look as a super-cheerleader.

gossipgirlGossip Girls:

With the third season of “Gossip Girl” just starting, this is sure to be a popular costume. By combining jewel tones with classic school-girl pieces such as plaid skirts, fitted blazers and knee socks, you can turn into one of Manhattan’s elite. Simply add some faux pearls and a headband with a bow, and your look’s complete.

G.I. Jane:

The summer blockbuster, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has inspired us to spotlight our tough-girl side. A ribbed tank, camo pants and combat boots are the key pieces in this costume. A few extras, like black eyeliner or dog tags can complete your military makeover.

michaelThe King of Pop:

Michael Jackson’s death this year was shocking to all. What’s a better way to pay tribute to his musical contributions than letting his look inspire your costume? Black skinny jeans, white socks, black flats, a white tank, a black fedora and a single sequined glove will set up the look. Another key piece you’ll need is a stand out jacket! Search through thrift stores, or relative’s old clothes from the ‘80s. If you can’t find an authentic throw back, make one. Take a black or red zip-up and bedazzle it! Add sequins and jewels, the more bling the better!

I’m going as either a cute fairy in pink and sparkles, or a dead anti-fairy, in black, ripped clothes, and wearing ripped wings.

Brrr! It's cold out there! It's also very dry in the air, and dryness can suck up moisture, leaving your skin flaky, itchy and tight. Don't worry, though--- Atopalm's Moisturizing Body Lotion is the perfect remedy for a cold, dry winter blast!
