To get into the spooky spirit of things, I’m going to do a countdown of my favorite scary movies of all time. Now, these flicks may not be the freakiest or even the most popular or acclaimed of the genre, but they’re MY faves.
Tune in every weekday for another movie, until we get to my favorite scary movie of all time! Now, a recap of my faves so far:
#20: Jaws
#19: The Last House on the Left
And coming in at number…
#18
The Faculty (1998)
directed by Robert Rodriguez; starring Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Jordana Brewster, Usher, Salma Hayek, Famke Janssen & Jon Stewart; Rated R
**This movie is NOT suitable for kids under the age of 17!!

Beyond the fact that this scary movie has one of the best all-star studded casts of any other horror flick, The Faculty has one of the creepiest sets in history: High school! After a group of students witness some sketchy stuff around campus, they begin to believe that their teachers are actually aliens. Before the last bell rings, everyone’s on the run, trying to grasp what’s transpiring and stop it before it happens to them, too.
WHY IT’S SCARY: I don’t know about you, but between the bullies, tyrannical teachers and broken hearts, I’m surprised it took them this long to portray high school as evil.
SCARIEST SCENE: Any kind of virus/disease/zombie apocalypse that spreads like wildfire freaks me out. Watching the way the students and teachers are taken over and how quickly it happens is super-creepy.
FUN & FREAKY FACTS:
* Faculty leading men, Elijah Wood and Josh Hartnett were both in other well-known (and awesome!) horror flicks: A young Elijah starred in The Good Son with Macaulay Culkin and Josh fought Michael Meyers in Halloween: H20 with Michelle Williams and Jamie Lee Curtis.
* The role of Delilah was originally written for former cheerleader, Charisma Carpenter. She turned the role down because she felt it was too similar to her character, Cordelia, on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
* Jon Stewart played the role of Prof. Edward Furlong in the movie. Coincidentally (or not so much), co-star Robert Patrick (Coach Joe Willis) worked with real-life Edward Furlong on Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

With a cast like this, you're in for a killer time!
