Dawn of the Dead (2004)
directed by Zack Snyder; starring Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames & Mekhi Phifer; Rated R
*This movie may not be suitable for kids under the age of 17
In this remake of the original movie by zombie legend George A. Romero, scary movie-goers get the ultimate undead apocalypse experience. A young woman wakes up one day to find that chaos has broken out all around her. Suddenly, her neighbors, friends and even her husband are violent, flesh-craving maniacs and she finds herself fighting for her life. After escaping a few close calls, she’s able to get away and ends up seeking refuge at a nearby mall. There, she joins a group of people who wouldn’t ordinarily mix, and they team up to kill the living dead and survive the outbreak
WHY IT’S SCARY: The zombies are way-freaky and the movie does a great job of giving you the experience of what an epidemic or outbreak of disease would be like. The DVD has some of the best commentary and behind-the-scenes extras of any movie I’ve seen. They even have a bonus feature that includes a series of newscasts from the first outbreak to when the station goes off the air. It’s creepy, because it seems so real!

Wait, don't go!
SCARIEST SCENE(S): In the beginning when our main character wakes up to find the little girl from next door is standing in their bedroom. And something’s wrong with her….
FUN & FREAKY FACTS:
* This movie begins and ends at dawn.
* According to director Zack Snyder, Starbucks refused to be featured in the film.
* The word “zombie” is never used in the film.
* This was Zack Snyder’s directorial debut.

Anyone out there?
