When it came time to designate the #9 slot in this roundup, I simply couldn’t choose between Pet Sematary & It as the scarier of the two (One has an evil dead kid and the other a creepy clown). So, today, you get a double dose of devious DVDs.

pet_semataryit_new_movie_stephen_king_novelIn Pet Sematary, a young family has just moved into a new house out in the country, near a highly trafficked road where semi’s regularly drive by. Louis befriends his odd older neighbor, Jud, and finds there’s more to their new property than they’d thought. After their family pet is hit by a car and killed, Louis makes the mistake of burrying him in the Pet Sematary, which is said to bring the dead back to life. The family quickly realizes that people tend to come back….wrong.

In It, a group of seven misfits return to their hometown after 30 years of being away, in order to relive their childhood nightmares. Now adults, the friends have to honor a promise they made as teens to kill off the evil in their town, which often takes the form of the evil clown, Pennywise. Though they defeated him once before, this time’s a different story.

WHY PET SEMATARY’S SCARY: It takes place near a sematary and shows you what really goes bump in the night.

WHY IT’S SCARY: I’ve never seen a clown this scary before in my life. It’s the stuff of nightmares.

SCARIEST SCENE IN PET  SEMATARY: When Zelda is sick up in her room and when Gage hides under Jud’s bed.

SCARIEST SCENE IN IT: When Pennywise is hiding in the gutter on the side of the street….

Hey kid...wanna see a trick?

SCARY STORY: It was because of the movie It that my sister, Amy, is afraid of clowns. I’m embarrassed to say, but after she watched this movie, I used to move her porcelean clown dolls around her room and tell her they came alive at night. Sorry, Amy! Also, I have to admit, I had the biggest crush on Jonathan Brandis growing up….loved him on “SeaQuest!”

FUN & FREAKY FACTS:

* In It, the night guard who works in the asylum is named Koontz after Stephen King’s rival author, Dean Koontz.

* Tim Curry’s characterization of Pennywise the clown was so creepy that the cast avoided him during filming.

* Stephen King made a cameo in Pet Sematary as the minister at the funeral.

* The role of Zelda, Rachel’s sister, was actually played by a man.

* 7 Cats were used to play the part of Church.

Brrr! It's cold out there! It's also very dry in the air, and dryness can suck up moisture, leaving your skin flaky, itchy and tight. Don't worry, though--- Atopalm's Moisturizing Body Lotion is the perfect remedy for a cold, dry winter blast!
