I’ve got the perfect gift idea for you this season: “A Very Special Christmas 7.”
Ever since I was a kid I have been a full-fledged holiday music junkie. Case in point: I don’t just have one holiday playlist on my iPod—I have several, according to genre (classics, acoustic, pop, etc.). If anyone is in a holiday music emergency situation, I’m the girl to call.
I also try to be a do-gooder whenever I can, especially around the holidays. I guess that’s why it makes perfect sense that my favorite holiday albums are the “A Very Special Christmas” series, all of which benefit the Special Olympics. These albums are all so good, and they read like a who’s who list of the best recording artists of the past 20 years. They’re so good, in fact, that enough people have purchased them to make the series the largest financial source in Special Olympics history. Awesome, right? My family had the first one on vinyl, and we played it on our record player in the mid ’80s. Now they’re up to volume 7, and I have a feeling it will be right up your alley. Just check out the song list:
- “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Colbie Caillat
- “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” by Carter Twins
- “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” by Miley Cyrus
- “Winter Wonderland” by Vanessa Hudgens
- “The Little Drummer Boy” by Sean Kingston
- “The Christmas Song” by Charice
- “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Kristinia DeBarge
- “Jingle Bell Rock” by Mitchel Musso
- “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” by Leighton Meester
- “Santa Baby” by Kellie Pickler
