POLLS CLOSE: FEBRUARY 14

FEB 2010- Johnna Petitte

Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader

Morgantown, WV * 23

KUDOS: Two-time NCA National Champ with Hawaii Pacific University; Varsity cheerleader at West Virginia University; member of the Baltimore Ravens cheer team

CATCHING UP: I finished my collegiate cheer career and graduated from WVU with a degree in multidisciplinary studies. Now I cheer for the Baltimore Ravens, the only team in the NFL with a coed stunt team. I even went to the Bahamas for the cheer calendar shoot in April!

UP NEXT: I’ll continue to cheer for the Ravens. I’ve also started my career in fashion merchandising—I’d love to have my own clothing store one day.

FAMOUS FOR: My double full. And I love stunting!

VOTE FOR JOHNNA: I’ve dedicated my life to cheer since I was 13 years old. I’ve cheered for all-star, college and now the NFL. I’m a great role model, and I’d be honored to be named AC’s COY!

APR 2010- Brianna Reilly

Southern Connecticut State University

New Haven, CT * 21

KUDOS: Placing first at the LICCA championship in HS; taking second at UCA College nationals freshman year at SCSU and winning UCA Nationals in 2009

CATCHING UP: This summer I was lucky enough to intern with CBS studios in NYC. I had so much fun and learned a lot. I met huge celebrities like Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Bradley Cooper and R&B artist Trey Songz! After I graduate, I’d love to work there.
UP NEXT: I plan to focus on my schoolwork. I also recently spoke with my HS cheer coach about becoming an assistant coach.

FAMOUS FOR: Being the person who’s always smiling. I’ve been told before that my smile is contagious—and being a happy, cheerful person makes someone a great cheerleader.

VOTE FOR BRIANNA: I think the COY should be a genuine, friendly, dedicated and talented cheerleader with a good heart. I believe I have all these qualities. I’ve been involved with community service, have worked cheer clinics and help others often. To be named COY would be my biggest accomplishment yet.

JUN 2010- Caitlin Hering

World Cup Shooting Stars

Westfield, NJ * 17

KUDOS: Making the World Cup Shooting Stars team; winning silver at The 2010 Cheerleading Worlds; making the NCA All-American team at NCA camp

CATCHING UP: I’ve been really busy with school, and I’ve also been working with Girls Learn International to prepare my school’s chapter for our upcoming year in fundraising and working with our new partner school in Cambodia.

UP NEXT: Shooting Stars has several upcoming fundraisers that I’ll be participating in with my team. Outside cheer, I’ll be singing at my school’s 150th anniversary mass with our choir, Laetare.

FAMOUS FOR: My dance and performance abilities. One year, I had a fun dance move during a voice-over that earned me the nickname, the “Call me” girl!

VOTE FOR CAITLIN: Cheerleading’s a huge part of my life and has made me into the strong athlete and person I am today. I believe cheer should be universally recognized as a sport, and as COY, I’d advocate for the athleticism and character that cheerleading builds in all its participants.

AUG 2010- Tarin Moses

University of Florida

Gainesville, FL * 19

KUDOS: Making University of Florida’s Varsity Coed team as a freshman; being on the cover of American Cheerleader

CATCHING UP: I’ve been to Alabama and Tennessee this season, where I’ve met some amazing cheerleaders. Lately, I’ve just been trying to keep our football team’s spirits up and preparing for basketball season.

UP NEXT: I’ll be going to Jacksonville for the infamous Florida-Georgia game. Things are going to be absolutely crazy with football on the weekends and then basketball, practices and workouts during the week. Busy, busy, busy!

FAMOUS FOR: Any Basket Toss! I absolutely love them, and I’ll try anything. My partner and I have also been working on some new spinning stunts for games.

VOTE FOR TARIN: Cheerleading has made me the person I am today; it has the power to mold a person into an amazing role model. It would make me the happiest person in the world to give other cheerleaders the inspiration to follow their dreams.

OCT 2010- Jenny Blake

University of Louisville

Louisville, KY * 21

KUDOS: Recovering from a broken leg and making the Louisville cheer team; learning how to do college-level top girl stunts; being AC’s October COM

CATCHING UP: I’ve been staying busy in my finance classes, studying for the GMATs, attending practices, cheering on the Cards football team and getting ready to start my finance internship.

UP NEXT: I plan to take the GMATs, apply to grad school and hopefully stay at the University of Louisville for another year.

FAMOUS FOR: I really love double full Baskets. Also, my stunt group just hit an awesome trick—a layout Rewind to immediate Arabesque.

VOTE FOR JENNY: I’ve received messages from girls telling me how my story encouraged them to try out for the next level in cheerleading. I’m so happy to share my experiences and give girls the confidence to go after their dreams.

DEC 2010- Marcy Smith

Bob Jones HS

Madison, AL * 18

KUDOS: One of the rotating squad captains for 2011; three-time national HS champion

CATCHING UP: I’m enjoying sharing my issue with my family and friends and hearing from readers. It’s been such a thrill. I still need to pinch myself to make sure it’s real.

UP NEXT: I’ve been accepted to Auburn University, so I’m busy applying for scholarships and preparing for college. I’m also helping run a school-wide food drive to promote spirit and provide for those in need.

FAMOUS FOR: Triple toe-touch back tuck

VOTE FOR MARCY: I love being a representative for cheerleading and feel I’m a well-rounded athlete and would do my very best to represent cheerleaders everywhere.
