Campus Confidential: Crushes & Let-Downs

January 20th, 2010 by Campus Confidential – Comments (6)

Campus Confidential is a college cheerleader who's sharing her life
and cheer experience with AC. Read on to hear more about her!

OH my! It’s been so long since my last blog and I’m so sorry to all of you! But this means I have a lot to catch you up on, so get ready!

Finals were such a busy time for me—I don’t think I left my house more than twice that whole week except to go to school. Our coach gave us the week off to study and I can’t tell you how sad I was, because practice would’ve been an excuse to take a break from studying and not feel bad for doing it.

That week passed though (thank goodness) and after that I had a very fun and busy break! I drove home a few days after finals because I wanted some extra time to hang out with my friends at school. We hung out at the beach all day for, like, three days straight! I wanted to soak in as much sun and beach as I could before I headed home—which is very cold, BTW.

It was really sad saying bye to all my friends, especially this boy I have a crush on. Cutie Pie and I have been hanging out a lot and I was bummed I was going to be gone all break! Ahhhhh! At least he came over to say goodbye before I left on my 7-hour drive home.

While I drove, I blasted my music and sang until I lost my voice. Singing out loud while driving is such a stress reliever for me. I seriously love it. If any of you are ever feeling sad, stressed out or just want to sing as loud as you can, jump in your car, roll down the windows, blast your music and let it all out! Try to sing louder than the music or pretend you’re the one on the radio. It’s so much fun. My favorite part is looking at everyone’s faces as I drive past them. I just smile an keep on singing. HA!

At home, I was excited to see everyone. I hung out with my family a little and then my mom and I drove to my BFF’s house to have lunch and just hang out. The best part about hanging out with my BFF is that our moms are great friends, too, so we  all have so much fun. together. Christmas and New Years flew by so fast this year, it still doesn’t feel like they happened. I had a wonderful home-for-the-holidays trip and was so sad to leave everyone at home, but I had to be back for cheer practice (and I knew I needed to get my booty back into tip-top shape). Man, was I dying that first night back at practice. I was already tired from my long drive and then we had a tough three-hour practice—let’s just say it was difficult to walk the next day.

We’ve been practicing almost every day since and it feels great! We’re finishing up the choreography for our comp routine and I must say, we’re looking bomb!  A lot of hard work, sweat and tears have gone into this routine and we want it so bad. Yesterday we found out two great girls on our team decided to quit. It was honestly heartbreaking to hear, because they know how hard we have all been working. And to throw it all away because it’s too time-consuming is unacceptable. They didn’t take into consideration how many people they’d be letting down by leaving. If any of you out there are having thoughts of quitting, at least finish out the year. I promise you’ll feel so much better that you made the decision to stay and you’ll make your team proud as well.

Our amazing coach pulled through once again by quickly rearranging our routine. Now all we have to do is work 10 times harder to hit all of our skills with the new members added in. I know we can do it, it’s just a matter of wanting it badly enough and I think we do.

Well, I’m headed off to practice to give it my all and work super-duper hard! Hope you’re doing the same!

Talk to you soon, superstars!

XOXO,

Campus Confidential

wow, this was nice to read. I like to hear about other cheerleaders working so hard! Today i just had a rough practice, and being yelled at by your coach for not trying hard enough hurts, and especially when you are exhausted and feel like you are giving it your all!! My all star teams routine is sooo stinkin hard, and we keep adding harder elements too it and it is exhausting!! Im sorry that two people quit your team. Last year my team had that happen to us like every week for a while,im not even exaturating!!

    Anyways thanks

Haha omg what a cute story campus confidential- I like… fun to relate- cool stuff. I love to cheer also but sometime the practice are grueling and major personality crashes like some are the girls are our team are sooo mean that I want to scream. I hope to cheer on a college team where we’ll have guys on the team. Hopefully it will mello people out and balance the emotions. Question? how is it cheering with guys on team????

Brrr! It's cold out there! It's also very dry in the air, and dryness can suck up moisture, leaving your skin flaky, itchy and tight. Don't worry, though--- Atopalm's Moisturizing Body Lotion is the perfect remedy for a cold, dry winter blast!
