Add some coffee to your beauty regimen!

November 11th, 2010 by Kathleen Hager – Comments (2)

Personally, I can’t stand coffee. The only orders I make at Starbucks are caramely, whipped creamy and, if frozen, would probably turn into a yummy ice cream. But while I’m no caffeine connoisseur, I do suffer from a beauty addiction, so when I first encountered Barista Bath and Body, I put my cup-o-Joe-loathing aside and decided to check it out. Holy moly… I’m hooked.

If you’re as clueless about the beauty benefits of coffee as I was, you’re probably wondering what the big deal is. Barista’s products are made with organic coffee, coffee extract, essential oils and herbal extracts to bring you a line that’s free of the usual beauty nasties (parabens, phthalates and sulfates) and works with your own body’s pH. According to Barista, ordinary soaps have a pH of 12, which strip your skin and hair (which has a pH of 4.5–5) of their natural goodies. Coffee, it turns out, also has a pH of 4.5–5. It’s science, ladies! These products work with your own chemistry to keep your lovely layers healthy and beautiful.

And it really does make a difference. It takes a lot for me to say I absolutely love a product, but I absolutely love Barista! Their Perk It Up shampoo and Soothe Those Jitters conditioner make my hair shiny and silky, and their Triple Shot 3-in-1 shower gel leaves my skin super soft. Plus, even though I only choke down coffee when I desperately need to stay awake, the smell is divine, and I really feel like I’m pampering myself. It’s like I’m concocting my own beauty brew in the shower every morning. Check out the whole line and get caffeinated!

About Kathleen Hager
I grew up a small town girl with a big personality. Born and raised in Jim Thorpe, PA (you’ve never heard of it because it’s that tiny), I was always super outgoing and made (and still make) a lot of noise with my big mouth, which made cheerleading the logical love of my life. Jumping up and down yelling on a football field in front of lots of people—perfect. Maybe that’s what cheerleading felt like at 7 years old, but throughout junior high and high school, it became what taught me how to challenge myself, where I met my best friends and where I genuinely felt talented and special. After earning a journalism degree at Temple University and eventually making the big move from Philly to NYC, I’ve gotten a chance to open a new cheer chapter in my life with AC!

Brrr! It's cold out there! It's also very dry in the air, and dryness can suck up moisture, leaving your skin flaky, itchy and tight. Don't worry, though--- Atopalm's Moisturizing Body Lotion is the perfect remedy for a cold, dry winter blast!
