Exclusive-to-the-web info on your favorite Jenner girl!

We had no idea what we were in for when Kendall Jenner arrived at the studio the day of her exclusive cover shoot with AC. With famous sisters like Kim, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian, we half-expected the budding model to show up with one of them in tow and an air of fabulosity that only a family of their caliber could provide. We’ve seen their shows; “Keeping up with the Kardashians” just finished its fifth season and fans are so fascinated with the entrepreneurial family that they’ve garnered three spin-offs: “Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami,” “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” and the recently debuted, “Khloé & Lamar.” And with the Kardashian name attached to stores like Dash, located in California, Miami and New York, a best-selling book, fragrances and even a diet system, they’re easily the most talked-about family on TV.
So, when 15-year-old Kendall showed up on time, dressed down in a pair of black leggings and a “With Love From Paris” tee, with her hair up in a loose ponytail and a friendly smile on her face, we were pleasantly surprised. Instead of an entourage including one of her older sisters or her momager, Kris, it was her dad, Bruce, who was waiting with her in the lounge when we arrived. Towering over us as he introduced himself, Bruce launched into a story about how he’d once commentated at a cheerleading competition many years before and quite enjoyed the experience. He then gave her a hug and left her to do her thing—not exactly what we were expecting from the guy who’s been known to be pretty protective of his youngest daughters. But, then again, nothing we learned about Kendall was what we’d expected.
The supermodel-tall PYT proved to be just like any other teenager at our shoots: eager to be in front of the camera, excited to try on all the clothes we’d brought for her and psyched to talk about being a cheerleader at Sierra Canyon School in California. She showed us cheer videos on her iPad, busted out a few 8-counts of her halftime routine and spent some of her time tweeting things like, “OMG! At my first photo shoot for a magazine COVER! I can’t believe I’ve come so far in something I love to do!” and posting pics of herself from the set. In other words, you’d have never known she’s spent the last six years with cameras following her family 24/7.
Apparently, this is what you get with the gorgeous brunette: a typical teenager who leads an extraordinary life. “At first, I was surprised at how normal and down to earth Kendall is and how organized and professional she is for a freshman in high school,” says SC Coach David Kirschner. “She’s a very outgoing cheerleader, always coming up with new ideas to support our athletic teams and has the ability to make everyone around her smile and laugh. She’s the most hilarious cheerleader I’ve ever coached. It’s clear to me that fame certainly hasn’t gotten to her.”
Speaking of her famous family, it seems as if the whole Kardashian/Jenner clan is 100 percent behind her newfound love of cheer. Coach Kirschner says that in the fall, Bruce attended every football game Kendall cheered at, sitting in the stands to show his support. And even her older sisters joined in as Kendall’s own set of cheerleaders. “I personally love that Kendall’s a cheerleader,” says Khloé Kardashian. “She loves to practice with her squad—she’ll even practice the routines at home with her cheer friends. Kendall has so much team spirit and I think she fits the role of a cheerleader perfectly.” Older sister Kourtney Kardashian adds: “Kendall’s honest, kind, gentle, sweet, gorgeous, modest and fun. I spend more time with Kendall than any of my other friends because she has an amazing energy that’s addictive to be around.”
With a modeling career that appears to be on the fast track and a fanbase that’s clamoring to see what the teen will do next, you may think you know one of reality TV’s youngest stars, but to most of us, Kendall Jenner’s been a mystery. “Kendall’s so sweet, full of energy and one of my best friends,” says Kim Kardashian. “She’s just as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.” After getting to know her, we’d have to agree.
AC: Do you have a captain on your team?
Kendall: There’s one girl on our squad who’s kind of like the captain, but we don’t have a set captain because we’re still so new.
AC: Do you contribute a lot of ideas to the team?
Kendall: There are so many creative girls on my squad and we all like to think of stuff like that. I love putting ideas out there and if we end up using them, that’s really cool.
AC: How does it feel to be part of the first-ever cheer squad at your school?
Kendall: It’s pretty amazing. It’s great to have cheerleading at my school. Especially if my future children decide to go to Sierra [Canyon], then they’ll be able to look back and see that their mom was on the first cheer squad there.
AC: Are you more of a football or basketball fan?
Kendall: Basketball. I mean, I love football, but basketball is a little crazier for me. But we did have such a great football team this year and it was fun to go to every game and watch them go through the season.
AC: What would you like people to know about you that’s not covered on the show?
Kendall: I guess when you first meet me, I’m a little shy. Once I get to know you, though, I’ll open up. But I always try to be as nice to other people as possible.
AC: Does your shyness go away in front of the camera?
Kendall: Almost. I’ve gotten so much better at it—you could ask any of my sisters. I was a really shy kid, but I’ve grown out of it for the most part now.
AC: How do you ensure that you still get to be a regular teenager?
Kendall: Basically, my friends keep me grounded. I’ve known them forever, so it’s not like they judge me or look at me differently than any other friend. I’ve known them since I was in kindergarten, so it’s nice to have them around.
AC: What do you like most about modeling?
Kendall: I love meeting so many people! There’s always a crew around shoots and I love meeting them all and being in front of the camera. Wearing all the fun clothes and getting my makeup and hair done—everything’s just so much fun for me! I really hope to continue doing it because I love it. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do.
AC: You and Kylie remake music videos and post them on the web. What gave you the idea to do that?
Kendall: The girls we actually do the videos with are our best friends—we’ve known them forever. We used to do these videos together when we were like, 8 or 9 years old, and they were to the funniest old-school songs. We always had fun doing them, so we just started doing it again…
AC: As a former Olympic athlete, has your dad [Bruce Jenner] given you any tips on what it takes to be a top athlete?
Kendall: He always says to do everything to the best of my ability and to work hard at anything I do.
AC: What big things can we expect from you in the future?
Kendall: Hopefully just continuing with my modeling career and maybe getting into TV like my sisters.
AC: Is acting an interest of yours?
Kendall: It’s not my dream, but it would be really fun to do someday.
AC: What do you hope the cameras never catch you doing?
Kendall: Probably changing or something.
AC: What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
Kendall: Don’t pay attention to what people say about you. If they say something mean about you, they’re probably just jealous.
AC: Is there anything you want to say to our readers?
Kendall: Follow your dreams!
