Twisting to the Top

May 24th, 2011 by admin – Comments (5)

Master a full up Cupie in a few simple steps.
by Craig Callaway; photos by Curtis Callaway

1. SPONGE
The top girl loads into a sponge position. The only person that changes her grip for a full up is the top’s right base.
GRIP: The top girl’s right base turns her right hang counter-clockwise until her fingers are pointing toward her stomach and her thumb is pointing away.

2. TWIST UP
On the designated count, the group bends and throws the top girl upward. The throw should be hard enough to hit an Extension. Everyone releases the top girl at the top of the toss, except her right base, who will keep her hand on the top girl’s foot at all times.

3. CUPIE
At the top of the toss, everyone grabs the top girl’s feet and ankles. The top squeezes her ankles together throughout the toss and at the top.

4. CRADLE
On the designated count, the group dips and pops the top girl up and into a cradle.
