Meet our Squad of the Month: Oxford, CT High School

July 11th, 2012 by amercheermag – Comments (1)

Oxford, CT, High School has only been operating since 2007, but the school trophy case is already chock full, thanks to the outstanding cheerleading squad. The team not only brought home the Connecticut state championship this year for the fourth year in a row but also nabbed their first-ever SWC League title, competing against larger, more established schools.

But the Wolverine cheerleaders aren’t all about competition – they also specialize in compassion. When a team member’s mom was diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer the 20 cheerleaders, their parents and their coaches all rallied around, helping both the family and the larger “Think Pink” cause.

Pick up the August issue to learn more about how our latest Squad of the Month pulled together to raise funds for cancer-related charities AND their secrets to success on the mats.

My niece is third from right on bottom row. She’s a flyer and boy can she fly. My heart is in my throat every time they perform. They are a great group of young ladies and their coach is awesome. She instills good sportmanship, hard work, fun, team spirit and caring into the girls and it really shows. Oxford, you’re the greatest!!!
