Squad of the Month: Father Judge

October 29th, 2012 by amercheermag – Comments (0)

Preparing for Nationals can be stressful — your squad’s giving it all you’ve got to do your best. As if that wasn’t enough stress for the Father Judge High School cheer squad, they also went into the 2012 competition wondering if it would be their last event together. With the announcement before competition that St. Hubert would be closing, it was up to this fresh, young cheer squad to show their school and the community that they weren’t going anywhere. And that’s just what they did.

With a strong sense of unity, perseverance, and determination, the Father Judge cheer squad nailed their routine at Nationals and placed first in the Large Varsity Division! Even with a largely inexperienced team, the support of everyone around them in this time of uncertainty was just what they needed to rise to the occasion and bring home the white jackets. Shortly after Nationals the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that St. Hubert’s would remain open! The girls received recognition from both Philadelphia City Hall and the Pennsylvania State Capitol, and had their full routine featured on ESPN. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, the Father Judge cheer squad has truly been an inspiration to us and to teams around the country!
