All Access with Hailey: Senior Year
Happy new season AC readers!
My name is Hailey Bednar, and I have been blogging for American Cheerleader for one year now. I am very excited to be blogging for one more year as I journey through my senior year as an all star and high school cheerleader. I am going to be a senior at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia, as well as a varsity sideline and competition cheerleader for the fourth year in a row. My school will be trying to defend our two-time Georgia State Champion title in the Single A Private School division.
I am also a proud fourth year veteran on the Stingray Allstars Orange, which will be competing in Large Senior All Girl Level 5 this year. This team is part of an 8-time World Champion legacy, and I have had the incredible opportunity to be a part of three of those titles. I am beyond blessed to cheer on both of these amazing teams and to be able to spend one more year with them!
Throughout the year, you will find that I mostly blog about cheer, but I also like to share my other passion: the country of Haiti. I love to serve and raise money for the House of Hope, an orphanage in Tabarre, Haiti, and in July I will be visiting for the third time. Through selling bracelets, canvases and even creating my own organization, “Spread Hope for Haiti,” I have been able to raise almost $8,000 over the past three years. It has a very special place in my heart and I cannot wait to return! The cheer community has been so supportive of my efforts and a big reason for my success in raising money for the House of Hope!
The Stingray Allstars just finished tryouts, and the 2014-2015 season is now in full swing! Summer practices have begun, and I was super excited to meet our new team. I already cannot wait for choreography and competitions! Throughout the summer, we will have conditioning-focused practices and will begin to work tumbling, stunts and pyramids for the new competition season. We’ll also be preparing for Stingray Stunt Camp that takes place at the end of June.
For school cheerleading, we just finished choosing our varsity and junior varsity teams, and in early June we are attending an invitation-only UCA camp at the University of West Georgia. The rest of the summer we will attend workouts and summer practices to prepare for the competition season in the fall. We’ll also be refining our cheers and sidelines for football games under the Friday night lights!
This season is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out! I can’t believe it is my senior year, but I cannot wait to end on a high note. I am so excited to be able to share my story through my blog, and I hope that you will follow me on my journey!
