All Access with Allison: It’s Football Season!
Hey guys! September is here and tagging along is… FOOTBALL! We are so excited about this season at the University of Alabama and we are already off to a great start. Next weekend will be our first home game. Prior to the game, we will also have a luncheon for the entire program including coed, all girl, mascots and our parents. It’s going to be great to not only hang out with our program, but to meet some people’s families too. After we eat, we will have a short break and begin preparing for the game with pep rallies and appearances. It’s going to be a fun day and I cannot wait to end it with cheering in Bryant Denny Stadium again.
We have been working hard at practices making sure that we are performing all of our cheers and band dances sharply and are synchronized with our signs and stunts. When cheering in front of 100,000 fans, it’s important that we look our best! Next week we will have the opportunity to practice in the stadium with the band so we can go over our pre-game material. It’s always an awesome feeling stepping on the field each year- even if it’s just for practice. It’s just such an incredible atmosphere and the excitement never gets old.
Besides preparing for games, we have already started getting ourselves ready for our FIRST year competing. Workouts began a couple of weeks ago and I have definitely been “feeling the burn.” And while I am not much of a morning person, I know that during our 5:30 a.m. workouts we are getting our bodies ready and building our endurance for football games and nationals. I am very grateful that we have the facilities and trainers that can help to prepare us for our season! Practices have been going great and I am amazed at what my team has accomplished so far. We have been doing a lot of work on stunts and have also been going over pyramids and baskets. Everyone has been working very hard and it is great to see the team focused on improving. Whenever we do not have practice, a lot of us will go to ACE of Tuscaloosa to do additional work with tumbling and stunting.
Overall, we have a very busy couple of weeks ahead of us with workouts, practices and games. The volleyball season has also started so we will begin cheering them on this weekend.
