All Access with Hailey: Preparing for Competition
Hey readers! I hope everyone is doing well. Since my last blog, my team, Stingrays Orange, got half of our choreography for the season. It is always really exciting to see where you will be in the routine and what skills that the coaches will choose to showcase. I think our fans will be thrilled when they see what we are made of this year! The focus of our practices has shifted into perfecting and drilling everything placed in the routine. We will be getting the rest of our choreography in the next couple weeks and I cannot wait!
The competition season is coming up quickly. Most of the Stingrays teams have their routines now and it is so much fun to see the new energy in the gym! This season, we had a HUGE increase in athletes. We now have around thirty teams! Twenty four of them come from the gym in Marietta, Georgia, and six of them come from Johns Creek, Georgia. Because of the increase in athletes and teams, Stingrays just purchased a third location to be used as an overflow gym for the Marietta location. All three Rays locations are always packed with teams working hard and preparing for the new competition season!
School is now in full swing for all of our athletes. Most of the girls on Orange participate in school cheerleading, which means a busy group of cheerleaders. School competition teams have had choreography for a few weeks now and they are getting ready for competitions to start within the next month! Also, most of the girls cheer on the sidelines during football games as well! It is a lot of fun when all these activities start, but it is also really challenging to balance school, school cheerleading, as well as all star cheerleading. Time management is HUGE during this time of the year, but these girls will do anything for the sport that they love.
The competition season is creeping up on us, so these next couple weeks will be filled with hard practices and lots of conditioning, tumbling and stunting. Orange and all of the Stingray teams will continue to perfect their new choreography over the coming months. I am excited to see what the new season holds not only for Orange, but also for The Stingray Allstars as a program!
Until next time, Let’s Go Rays!
