Summer Intern Reporting for Duty...

posted by Rebecca Dolan on Friday, Jun 13

Hello everyone out there in cheerleading land. My name is Becca, and I just started as a summer intern here at American Cheerleader. I’m totally stoked to be with the AC crew for the next couple of months, and to help work on this amazing magazine for all of you guys!

I guess I should let you know a little bit about myself. For starters, I hail from the great state of Virginia but grew up in South Carolina. I just graduated from the College of William and Mary in fabulous Williamsburg, VA, where I cheered on the Tribe (check me out with my teammates, second from right...go green and gold!). I was also in a sorority— Tri Delta to be exact— and it was a great experience that I would surely recommend. At W&M I majored in anthropology with dreams of becoming an archaeologist, and about five months before graduating decided that what I really wanted to do was go into publishing. EEK! So, it goes to show you that what you major in as an undergraduate will not necessarily determine the rest of your life— no worries, my college bound ladies! That decision brought me to AC, and here I am talking to you. Changing my career path may just be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Now for some fun trivia:

• I am a huge ball of energy.
• My favorite food is potatoes, although barbeque is a close second.
• I’m totally obsessed with techno music and the Spanish singer David Bisbal. (Listen to his song “Ave Maria." You’ll love it, I promise!)
• I speak French and think that Paris is the most wonderful place in the world.
• I love to dance and will do it anyplace, anytime. I also spontaneously burst out into cheers.
• I’m a Navy brat.
• I went to the University of Miami in Florida for a semester before transferring to W&M. (I’m a great person to talk to about that whole transferring thing.)
• I help train a therapy dog to work with children who have experienced a loss.

Well, that about sums me all up. If you have any questions about what it’s like being an intern, about college, the city, the meaning of life, etc. don’t hesitate to shoot me an e-mail. I would love to hear from you! You can find me at rdolan@americancheerleader.com. I’ll be sure to answer as much as I can in my later posts. Don’t be a stranger!

xoxo,

Becca :)
