The OTHER musical you must see...posted by Brittany Geragotelis on Monday, Jul 14 Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm obsessed with a lot of things: Eonline!, the color pink, Meg Cabot, junk food (right now, I can't get enough of Salt & Vinegar potato chips!). But one thing has had the single most significant impact on my life..... Four words: Buffy the Vampire Slayer I'm completely crazy over that show and I'm not afraid to admit it. There's nothing better than a kick-butt girl, who makes a positive impact in the world around her, all while dressing to the nines and showcasing a fearless, sassy 'tude (no character has better quips...well, except for maybe Veronica Mars). And trust me, the fact that she was once a cheerleader isn't lost on me, either. I love quoting the show whenever I can (I can relate any experience back to a Buffy episode)....I watch the series over and over again on DVD (it's like my own security blanket when I'm feeling stressed and craving the familiar)....And I like to joke around with my friends that I'd make a great vampire slayer (what? I totally would!). I love the actors/actresses who made that show come alive (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, [former cheerleader] Charisma Carpenter and Eliza Dushku), but my admiration runs even deeper for the mastermind BEHIND the show: Joss Whedon. This man is a GENIUS. His grasp on strong female role models is unmatched and his ability to come up with original ideas is mind-boggling (During the run of Buffy, he produced both a musical AND a nearly all-silent episode). In short...without his unique vision and intense creativity, TV-land would be a less-inspiring place. So, you can imagine my excitement when I read that Joss had teamed up with Neil Patrick Harris (who coincidentally co-stars with Alyson Hannigan on the hilarious sitcom How I Met Your Mother) to make a 3-act, short epic movie called "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog." SERIOUSLY! The coolest thing about it, is that it's available to EVERYONE and will be debuting exclusively on the internet. However, you've gotta log in BEFORE midnight on Sunday, July 20th or you'll miss it FOREVER....or until it comes out on DVD. So log on to www.drhorrible.com on: TUE, July 15th—ACT I THURS, July 17th—ACT II SAT, July 19th—ACT III Mark it down on your calendars or set an alert on your cell phone and tune in online to check out Joss' latest work of brilliance—it's sure to tide Whedon-verse fans over until his upcoming show, "Dollhouse" (starring Buffy alum, Eliza Dushku) comes out in the fall on Fox.
