Hi cheerleaders,

Wow, is it really 2008 already? I love the start of a new year, because it really feels like an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and get off to a fresh start in life. In addition to my own personal resolutions, I have a list of things I'd like to see in '08, particularly at competition. Want to take a peek?

* better sportsmanship! Competition is way more fun when you're supporting friends rather than being catty. Try it.

* cleaner arenas! It might sound silly, but the amount of garbage cheerleaders leave on the floor at competition is disgusting. I swear, I catch a cold after every event, and no amount of hand sanitizer seems to do the trick. Pick up your trash, people!

* less over-the-top facials! Ladies, please keep your tongues in your mouths and keep the blowfish faces to a minimum. Nothing is prettier on the mat than a big, natural smile. :)

* more people saying hello! You can find me or one of my editors at almost every national event. We're usually at a booth or sitting near the judges table. I would LOVE to meet you! 

That said, I cannot wait to see you all on the competition mat. Happy 2008!
