Champions Don’t Have Limits
When Chloe and Hannah walk into the gym at Champion Cheer, they look no different than the other athletes that take the floor there. Motivated and ready to work, these two girls with type 1 diabetes practice for the upcoming season with the same passion and intensity as their teammates.
Chloe, diagnosed in 2009, currently cheers for the Flames, who are already preparing for Nationals. In addition to housing an impressive collection of cheer awards, Chloe excels in the classroom and is a straight-A student. Hannah, also a model student, cheers for Burn. With her help, they are ready to come out on top at Nationals this season.
Living with type 1 diabetes can be a challenge, but the girls tackle it head on with preparation and a positive attitude. Chole told AC, “Trying to keep my blood sugar controlled while I’m at cheer is one of my biggest challenges.” She has overcome this obstacle by testing before practice and checking her blood sugar when she feels low, so that she can get back to practicing as soon as it returns to normal. Always staying on top of their game both on and off the mat has made these girls an inspiration to the other Champion athletes around them.
The girls and their gym have come together to participate in the Walk to Cure Diabetes each year as part of the “Champions for Life Team.” Champion’s goal this past year was to collectively raise $2,000 for diabetes research – they more than doubled their goal and raised over $5,000!
Cheer Chloe and Hannah on this season as they continue their road to Nationals. Best of luck to Champion Cheer Allstars from AC!
