Step by Step: Stair Step to Extension

START

Start
To start: This stunt should start with the top jumping into a regular load position. Take one dip together as a group.

STEP 1

Step1
Main base:After the group dip, bend at your knees and stay at the load position.

Secondary base: After the group dip, stand up and lift the top’s left foot up to the Extension Prep level.

Back spot: After the group dip, guide the top’s ankles while lifting the top’s left leg up to an Extension Prep and keeping the top’s right leg in the load position.

Top: After the group dip, lift your left leg up to an Extension Prep. Make sure you are still lifting through your shoulders and keeping your hips underneath you.

STEP 2

Step2
Main base: Bend at your knees and then drive the top’s right foot all the way up to an Extension by using your legs and arms. Absorb the weight by bending with your legs.

Secondary base: Stay in an Extension Prep and bend at your knees.

Back spot: Keep lifting up on both ankles while driving the top’s right foot all the way to the top and keeping the top’s left foot at the Extension Prep level.

Top: Lock out your left leg and lift your right leg up to an Extension. Keep lifting up through your shoulders and stay tight.

STEP 3

Step3
Main base: Stay in an Extension and bend your knees while the secondary base drives the top’s left foot up to meet you in an Extension.

Secondary base: Bend your knees and then drive all the way up to an Extension.

Back spot: Bend your knees and then drive the top’s left leg up to meet her right leg.

Top: Stand up on your right leg and squeeze your legs together. Hit a High V.

OPTIONAL (ADVANCED)

Optional
Main base: Stay in an Extension and bend your knees while the secondary releases the top’s left foot and goes to the Liberty grip.

Secondary base: Bend your knees and then drive up, releasing the left foot at the top and moving to the Liberty grip. Your right hand will go under the top’s right foot with your thumb facing you. Position your left hand on the front wrist of the main base.

Back spot: Bend your knees and drive up with both hands, releasing the left hand on the way up and placing it on the top’s right ankle. Continue to pull up with both hands.

Top: Stand up on your right leg. As your left foot is released by the secondary base, pull up to a Liberty position.

Note:All cheerleading skills, including partner stunts, should be performed under the supervision of a knowledgeable adult.
