Team USA Day 2: Stunts & Pyramids

Day 2 is in the books! I woke up pretty sore but was relieved to find out that I wasn’t the only one. As I walked into the ballroom where practices are held, I could see one of our amazing trainers, Anda Urdis, working with one of my teammates to ease her muscle aches. The athletic trainers for Team USA, Anda and Gen, are the best of the best, and we are so grateful for the knowledge and professionalism they bring, especially when they get to deal with over 60 of us! They are pretty much super heroes!

We started our first practice by perfecting the elite stunts. The level of difficulty in our stunts is outrageous! To get in more repetitions, Tony and Savanna had us go one at a time and perform each stunt section, making sure that all of the groups looked the same. Watching each group hit such difficult stunts made me realize just how talented our team is.

Next, we focused on pyramids. Trying to get everyone in exactly the right spot for a pyramid can be a daunting task. However, our coaches fit everyone perfectly where they need to be to ensure that the final product is nothing short of extraordinary. Some girls even had to learn new positions, but they picked it up so fast that you never would have known it was new to them!

At our second practice, we finished mapping out the rest of the routine. It is packed full of difficulty and will definitely be the hardest routine I have ever performed, but that’s what makes it the most rewarding! Everyone is moving nonstop throughout the routine, which is one thing I love about All Girl teams. Everyone does everything when it comes to stunting, tumbling, pyramids and baskets, without any help from the boys! With the strength of our bases and back spots, we don’t need the boys anyways. :)

After practice, I got to watch the Coed team work on its pyramid for a bit. Wow, the skills and difficulty are absurd! I was in awe seeing what they have already accomplished by the end of the second day. I can’t wait to see how far both of our teams come by the end of this week!

Thanks for reading!
