US Nat’l Team Training Blog: Day 10
We’re almost done with USA Cheer training, and WE’RE READY to represent our country!
As training has gone on, our bodies have adjusted to the long practice days. We are much less sore but more fatigued. This is when we have to sharpen our mental focus and emphasize proper technique in our skills. It’s amazing what your mind can do!
At one of our practices, we were honored with a special guest. Veteran Robert Doyle spoke to us and shared his experiences serving multiple terms in Vietnam with the US Marines. This was particularly rewarding because it reminded us that we are not just cheerleaders, but representatives of this country we love to live in. If it weren’t for soldiers like Mr. Doyle, we wouldn’t have the opportunities we have today.
Listening to Mr. Doyle inspired us to push harder than ever. We had a great practice that morning, hitting our routine to the best of our ability. Later on, we had a dress rehearsal performance at Cocoa Beach High School. Both USA Coed and USA All Girl hit! We still have some small improvements to make, so we’re looking forward to our peak moment.
Next, we’re heading to Orlando, where we will compete this Friday at the World Cheerleading Championships. If you’re in the area, stop by the football field at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort to see us practice and wish us luck!
Don’t forget to watch the competition live at cheerunion.org. It kicks off Thursday afternoon with Opening Ceremonies starting at 2:00 PM ET.
